The White House has been locked down amid fears a suspicious package was hurled over the fence.
It is the second lock down in less than 24 hours when an intruder breached security at the north lawn of the presidential residence by leaping over the fence.
President Obama is believed to be inside the White House.

The Mirror reports:
The security alert was activated after a package containing papers and a phone was thrown over the fence, according to CNN.
The Secret Service, which protects the president and the White House, was reportedly checking for any possible threats in the area following the incident.
The White House complex returned to normal operations after around two hours and a man was reportedly taken into custody.
The closure on Wednesday at 11am local time – 4pm UK time – came less than 24 hours after the White House was previously placed on lockdown.
That response was sparked when a robbery suspect jumped into the grounds outside the Eisenhower Executive Office Building (EEOB).
He was accused of stealing a woman’s purse and then, on spotting officers from the Secret Service patrolling nearby, he jumped the fence to flee them.
The suspect was apparently unaware he had hopped into one of the most protected areas, according to NBC News.
