US Army’s New ‘Punisher’ Weapon Can Hit The Enemy Under Cover

Fact checked

The US army is testing a new 'smart' weapon that can take out the enemy hiding behind a cover

Punisher

The XM25 known as the Punisher can get to you even if you are hiding behind a solid object and feeling safe and cosy. It has ‘smart’ ammo that can outmanoeuvre you before you break cover. It will arrive at your doorstep via a laser rangefinder while you hide behind it.

It’s been compared to a revolutionary technology in warfare such as a tank or a machine gun. The enemy has to find other methods of making themselves inconspicuous in battle from now on.

The Mirror reports:

The shoulder-fired XM25 Counter Defilade Engagement System, has a laser rangefinder and soldiers can programme exactly where the “smart” ammunition detonates.

Known as “The Punisher”, its range is 2,300 feet.

The makers, Orbital ATK, believe it will be able to take out soldiers hidden inside doorways, behind trees, in trenches or bunkers.Punisher

US Army Lieutenant Colonel Chris Lehner said: “The introduction of the XM25 is akin to other revolutionary systems such as the machine gun, the airplane, and the tank, all of which changed battlefield tactics.

“No longer will our soldiers have to expose themselves by firing and manoeuvring to eliminate an enemy behind cover.

“Our soldiers can remain covered/protected and use their XM25 to neutralise an enemy in his covered position.

“This will significantly reduce the risk of casualties and change the way we fight.”

  1. Pandora: I gave you a thumbs up, but, no we are not screwed!! When the 1st repeating rifle came into combat in the 1800s the enemy freaked out, not realizing that it was soon too become the normal weapon, and it wasn’t infallible!! Same thing here, ( we have a advanced weapon……. ), but with just a bit of information about it , we can exploit its weaknesses if ever used against the American ppl. Im just saying that , in that format just in case it falls into the hands of the enemy!
