The Remedist reports:

We want to keep the interior of our house clean to prevent diseases.

However, we should also be wary of the germs that are found just outside our homes.

In fact, a recent study conducted by scientists from the University of Houston found that 2 out of 5 doorsteps contain the bacteria Clostridium difficile (C. difficile).

Moreover, 39 percent of shoe soles contain the same bacteria.

The problem with C. difficile

What makes C. difficile harmful? Well, there is a reason why it sounds like the word ‘difficult.’

This bacteria is hard to treat! Many of its strains can easily resist antibiotics.

If you get infected with C. difficile, you can get watery bacteria.

The worst thing that can happen to you is a colon inflammation that can be life-threatening.

In fact, the mortality percentage associated with C. difficile ranges from 7 to 48 percent, according to a study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.
