An advance copy of a Sotheby’s Auction House brochure shown to Your News Wire suggests an enormous trove of Stanley Kubrick’s film props, accessories, and memorabilia, spanning five decades of work, is being prepared for auction in London.
The items set to receive the most attention, not to mention the largest financial windfall for Sotheby’s and the heirs to the Kubrick estate, are 71 historical artefacts from the top secret moon landing film he directed as part of a joint NASA/CIA co-production in 1969.

Andrea Fiucynsky, Executive Vice President of the prestigious auction house, predicted the rare and unique haul will attract thousands of the world’s wealthiest buyers from around the world.
“Many historical and one-off items are on sale and we expect them to reach very high prices,” Ms Fiucynsky said. “These include include Apollo 11’s lunar module, the Eagle, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin’s space suits, and the famous American flag they erected on the moon. These are all unique pieces of twentieth century history so they will interest people from all over the world.”
In July 1969 over 53 million American households tuned in to watch the production on TV. Over 530 million viewers worldwide watched the moon landing film, unaware the production had been filmed in a Hollywood basement studio.
The director and producer of Dr Strangelove, or How I Stopped Worrying And Learned To Love The Bomb, agreed to direct the notorious moon landing film in return for an unlimited budget to finance his masterpiece, 2001: A Space Odyssey.
The auction will also include items from other Kubrick films including A Clockwork Orange, Lolita, Full Metal Jacket, and Eyes Wide Shut, the infamous film that hinted at Kubrick’s knowledge of the Illuminati – a production he didn’t live to see finished.
