The Mirror reports: The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been told that evidence was suppressed on the orders of a senior officer.
A spokesman said: “A file was submitted to start proceedings.
“Two months later an officer was called in and told to drop the case.”
The two other new cases involve an investigation carried out in the 1980s.
The IPCC has also expanded an investigation into the police handling of the Rotherham child sex scandal after allegations against 42 named officers.
