Putin Threatens US Media: I Can Prove You Are Lying About Trump

Vladimir Putin claims that President Trump did not pass classified information to Russia and he can prove the media are lying.

Russian President Vladimir Putin claims that U.S. President Donald Trump did not pass classified information to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a meeting in Washington last week and that he can prove it.

Speaking at a news conference alongside Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, Putin quipped that Lavrov had not passed what he said were the “non-existent secrets” onto him either.

The fact is, the whole episode was simply created out of thin air by the lying mainstream media, determined to create a new scandal and convince the American public that President Trump is a liability – or worse, a covert Russian ally.

Putin said he can prove the media created the fake news out of nothing and with malicious intent.

According to Putin, Russia is ready and willing to hand a transcript of Trump’s meeting with Lavrov over to U.S. lawmakers if that will help reassure them that President Trump has done nothing wrong, and is the victim of a vicious and concerted smear campaign by the lying mainstream media.

The U.S. media, led by the Washington Post, CNN and the New York Times, said on Monday that Trump had disclosed highly classified information to Lavrov about a planned Islamic State operation, plunging the White House into another media-orchestrated controversy just months into Trump’s short tenure in office.

According to Putin the “scoop” is “demonstrably fake news” designed to hobble and eventually topple a democratically elected leader. The reports cite “anonymous sources” and fail to provide any evidence of what they claim.

On Wednesday, Putin denied that Lavrov had shared any intelligence with him or with Russia’s secret service, instead declaring that a “political schizophrenia” spread by dishonest mainstream media had gripped the United States and that it was “eliciting concern” in Russia.

“If the administration of the United States deems this possible, we will be ready to provide a transcript of the Lavrov-Trump meeting to the U.S. Senate and Congress,” Putin told reporters during a news conference with visiting Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni. Putin added, “It will happen if the U.S. administration wishes so.”

Russian Foreign Ministry officials also told the Interfax news agency Tuesday that reports claiming Trump shared classified information were “fake.”

Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the ministry, also rejected the claims in a Facebook post.

“Guys, have you been reading the American newspapers again?” she wrote, calling the Washington Post’s reporting — since confirmed by several other outlets — “yet another fake.” She suggested U.S. newspapers could be put to various uses, but shouldn’t be read.

“Lately it’s become not only harmful, but dangerous, too.”

  1. Russia has such solid respect in the world of diplomacy that I am sure it will be received without question.

  2. Excuse me, but we are to trust the word of a former intelligence operative of the KGB over our own administration which spoke to the NYT about the original source of the intelligence? Comrade Dmitry, how much are you getting paid to be a propagandist?

  3. At this point, with the crimes committed by the United States government against its citizens, yes, I would believe Russia and President Putin over the fake news reports maliciously spewed by any American media source. The lies, the cover-ups, the fabricated stories, and the fact that over at Veterans Today two years ago one of their editors who I once greatly admired said on national radio that only 40% of what he writes bears any truth. I’d say that’s what they call “straight from the horse’s mouth.”

And forget about the other alphabet intelligence agencies that resort to torture and rendition; the FBI, CIA, NSA, ATF, etc., etc., I wouldn’t put my faith or trust in any of these agencies. In my opinion they are the American citizens’ enemies not their protectors. The justice system is completely upside down now; with everyone believed to be guilty until proven innocent. You can thank the Patriot Acts I and II for that.

Every law enforcement agency in the country is conditioned to believe that ordinary Americans are enemy combatants, or worse – domestic terrorists.
