It has been claimed that Prince Charles included paedophile, Jimmy Savile, in a draft list of potential godparents weeks after his second son Harry was born in 1984.
The Mirror reports:
The name “James Wilson Vincent Savile, OBE” was reportedly seen among other names by Charles’s Private Secretary, Edward Adeane.
It is understood he was so alarmed by the potential appointment he was “found wandering in a dazed state at St James’s Palace” after discovering Charles’ plan.
Adeane, who left the post in 1985 and died last month aged 75, is said to have told Sir Alastair Aird, the Queen Mother’s accountant.
Sir Alastair assured him the matter would be “dealt with”.
Former army officer Gerald Ward was eventually asked to be Harry’s godfather.
He died in 2008, aged 70.
An upcoming play shows just how close Jimmy Savile was to the the royals, suggesting that the serial paedophile ‘wormed’ his way into the very heart of life at the palace and ‘seduced’ the royal family ‘
The drama titled ‘An Audience with Jimmy Savile’ will open at Park Theatre in Finsbury Park, north London, in June
