Coventry Telegraph reports:

Crews faced nightmare conditions as they battled to bring planes down in the blustery conditions which swept across the West Midlands on Wednesday.

No flights were cancelled despite the gusts and all jets landed safely, according to a spokeswoman from the airport.

But some pilots laboured to keep jets on track as they touched down in the winds, which came from the tail end of Storm Frank.

It was a bumpy approach for passengers on board the planes being blown from side-to-side by the howling winds.airport

Flights at other UK airports were also disrupted.

Passengers flying into Belfast were prevented from getting off planes because of high winds.

Travellers on nine jets were unable to depart the aircraft because it was too windy to put access steps in place.

Some passengers were kept on planes for two hours.
