Paris Attacks: Police Officer Arrested Over Charlie Hebdo Plot

Fact checked

A policewoman and three others have been taken into custody over suspected links to the Paris attacks in January, officials report.

Cba.ca report:

One man — who was already jailed in another case — had ties to Amedy Coulibaly, the gunman who killed a policewoman on Jan. 8 and then four more people at a kosher supermarket Jan. 9 before being killed by security forces, said the two officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing.

They said the detained man’s ex-girlfriend, a policewoman who was suspended after peeking into his criminal file, was also in custody.

The officials had no details about the two others in custody. A local magistrate told CBC News the four are scheduled to appear in courth in four days.

No one besides three dead gunmen have been linked directly to the Jan. 7-9 attacks at the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo and the market, which left 20 people dead, including the gunmen.

Coulibaly’s widow left for Syria days before the attacks.

No one with ties to Said or Cherif Kouachi, the brothers who killed 12 people at Charlie Hebdo, is in custody or has been formally sought since the attacks.
