Oct. 22 – US Ebola Patient Numbers Rising By The Hour?

Fact checked

In the last 24 hours, news stories have been pouring out of US cities of people being tested for Ebola and put into isolation.  According to an article from The International Business Times, “Two people who arrived at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport on Tuesday are being evaluated at hospitals in Chicago for signs of Ebola after the passengers, who traveled from Liberia but were on different planes, became ill during their flights.

One of the passengers, a child, vomited one time aboard the aircraft, according to Sun-Times Media. The other passenger, an adult traveling alone from Liberia, reported having nausea and diarrhea, but had a normal temperature during a screening.

In Newark, NJ, UT San Diego reports:  “Multiple news organizations reported that a man who had been in one of the three affected African countries who arrived at Newark International Airport was found to have fever and was transported to a local hospital.”

Just this week, the US announced more aggressive plans and travel restrictions for travelers going to and from the west coast of Africa.

CBS New York reported today: “Significantly expanding their vigilance, federal health officials said Wednesday that they would begin monitoring all travelers, even Americans, who come to the U.S. from Ebola-stricken West African nations for 21 days.

The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the program will begin Monday and cover visitors as well as aid workers, journalists and other Americans returning from Liberia, Sierra Leone or Guinea.
