Police are looking for a suspect who pushed a commuter under a tube train at Kentish Town Station, north London.
Witnesses saw a man push a commuter onto the tracks in front of an approaching train. The young commuter was seriously hurt and is in hospital. The stocky black man escaped from the scene by boarding a northbound train heading for Barnet. The incident is being treated as attempted murder. Police are appealing for witnesses after releasing a photo of the suspect.
The man was struck by a train just before midday on Wednesday and was rushed to hospital.
Witnesses posted on social media expressing their horror. One user wrote: “I feel physically sick. Someone has just been pushed under the train at #kentishtown underground station. Please everyone stay safe.”
“We treated a man at the scene and took him as a priority to a hospital in Central London with a doctor from the air ambulance on board.”
Later on Wednesday British Transport Police (BTP) released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to about the incident.
DS Gary Richardson said the man “ran to the northbound platform where he boarded a tube in the direction of High Barnet”. DS Richardson continued: “We have received reports from witnesses that the man was pushed in front of a train and we are currently treating this as an attempted murder.
