Islamic State-linked militants have gained a stronger foothold in Libya, seizing new economically vital areas of the country, which has been torn apart by a post-revolution civil war.
Reported to be leading ISIS in Libya is Abdelhakim Belhadj who was a top member of the jihadist group that the US government and NATO armed and funded in the overthrow of Colonel Gaddafi back in 2011.
