LeBron James compares NFL executives to slave owners

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has lashed out at NFL executives, comparing them to slave owners in the 1800’s.

James, 33, blasted executives for their “inflexible” approach in the NFL.

“In the NFL they got a bunch of old white men owning teams and they got that slave mentality,” James said on his Washington Post show.

The42.ie reports: “And it’s like, ‘This is my team. You do what the f*** I tell y’all to do. Or we get rid of y’all.’”

James’ show, The Shop, features the four-time MVP alongside other athletes and influential people from across the nation.

Friday’s episode featured James’ friend and business partner Maverick Carter, rapper and actor Ice Cube and Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley.

The Lakers star has started to speak more on social issues in recent years and has been outspoken about injustices he has seen in the United States and in other sports.

He had comments in particular on USA president Donald Trump’s stance against NFL players taking a knee.

The four-time MVP went on to say he appreciates NBA commissioner Adam Silver for how he not only runs the league, but how he interacts with the players.

“I’m so appreciative in our league of our commissioner,” James said.

“He doesn’t mind us having … a real feeling and to be able to express that. It doesn’t even matter if Adam agrees with what we are saying, he at least wants to hear us out.

“As long as we are doing it in a very educational, non-violent way, then he’s absolutely okay with it.”

  1. I would be a “slave” for the average NFL salary of 3.8 million dollars annually— where do I sign up for this slavery thing?
On a more serious note, you just can’t fix stupid.

  2. Also wanted to add— this shows what a bubble these athletes and celebrities in general live in. ALL of us in the real world ( who are not self-employed)work for bosses who will fire us if we don’t do as they say/want. Almost everyone I know works in an office/hospital/company where political statements or even discussion is forbidden while at work ( and often, even on social media.) These pampered, permanent children have no clue what the real world is like.

  3. Just another group of racist blacks hating on whitey. Nobody forced these overpaid meatheads into the NFL. If they hate it so bad, then they should quit. Pay me the league minimum in my own job, and they can treat me however the hell they want to. Haha

  4. Well he’s free to “leave the plantation” yet stays for the big money and fame, doesn’t he? Low IQ LeBron isn’t smart enough to be thankful for what he’s got.
