John Oliver rants about gigantic f***ing a***holes on HBO’s Last Week Tonight show, referring to ISIS terrorists who killed 129 people in Paris on Friday the 13th.
“You want a battle of cultures with France?! Good f***ing luck!” said the British host of the HBO comedy show on Sunday. “You just brought a philosophy of rigorous self-abnegation to a pastry fight, my friend.”
The Daily Mail reports:
Parisians said his caustic remarks had ‘made their day’ after suffering 72 hours of chaos, fear and misery as they mourned the deaths of 132 people massacred across the city by Islamist gunmen.
Oliver’s tirade has also gone viral on Facebook after it was posted by Les InRocks magazine, which lost a music journalist in the atrocities.
In a monologue to the camera, Oliver says: ‘First, as of now, we know this attack was carried out by gigantic f***ing a***holes.
‘Unconscionable, flaming a***holes, possibly working with other f***ing a***holes, definitely working in service of an ideology of pure a***holery.
‘Second, and this goes almost without saying, f*** these a***holes. F*** them, if I might say, f*** them sideways.’
He goes on to say ‘France is going to endure’ because their culture is so rich.
He says: ‘If you are in a war of culture and lifestyle with France, good f***ing luck. Go ahead, bring your bankrupt ideology.
‘They’ll bring Jean-Paul Sartre, Edith Piaf, fine wine, Camus, Camembert, madeleines, macarons, and the f***ing croquembouche.
‘You just brought a philosophy of rigorous self-abnegation to a pastry fight, my friend.
‘So to the people of France, our thoughts are truly with you and I do not doubt there will be more to say on all of this as events unspool.’
