Hostage Uses Pizza Hut App To Alert Police

A woman held hostage with her three children used a pizza hut delivery app to alert police while ordering a pizza.

Cheryl Treadway, 25 was being held hostage by her boyfriend, Ethan Nickerson, at their home in Avon park, Florida.
The knife wielding Nickerson was threatening the mother of three and her children. Ms Treadway convinced her violent boyfriend that a pizza hut order was in order.
While using the mobile app to order from Pizza Hut, she was able to put a couple of distress notes in her order of a large pepperoni special.

Highlands County Sheriff’s Office investigators say an Avon Park Pizza Hut received an order for a hand-tossed classic pepperoni pizza from Treadway just before 4 p.m. on Monday. Under the comment section of the order the message “911 hostage help!” could be read. An earlier part of the order also contained the message: “Please help. Get 911 to me.”

The Pizza Hut employees, concerned about the unusual comments, contacted the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the situation.

When police arrived at the home, Treadway answered the door carrying a small child in her arms. She said her boyfriend was inside and had a knife. Treadway was escorted to safety. Police spoke through the window to the boyfriend for about 20 minutes before he came out peacefully. The two children who remained in the home were removed shortly thereafter.

Treadway had allegedly been held hostage by Nickerson the entire day. He had taken her phone away and only let her use it after she convinced him that they should order pizza because the kids were hungry. As soon as Treadway placed the pizza order Nickerson took her phone back, according to the arrest report.
