Harvard Professor Says Prescription Drugs Are Killing Population

Harvard Professor claims that prescription drugs are killing the population

A Harvard Professor has claimed that prescription drugs are not only ineffective at treating most illnesses, but are actually killing the population.

Arnold Seymour Relman, professor of Medicine at Harvard University and former Editor-in-Chief of the New England Medical Journal says:

“The medical profession is being bought by the pharmaceutical industry, not only in terms of practice of medicine, but also in terms of teaching and research. The academic institutions of this country are allowing themselves to be the paid agents of the pharmaceutical industry. I think it’s disgraceful.”

Trueactivist.com reports:

The pharmaceutical industry is the most prevalent medicine industry worldwide, as it is hypothesized that the medicines provided by it quickly gives respite from ailments and treats a person, despite of the fact that thousands of people die every year from prescription drug use.

According to a new study, almost 80 percent of meta–analyses had some sort of industry tie-up, either through sponsorship or speaking fees, research grants and things like that, which again leads to the fact that drugs may help someone by giving some sort of relief or lowering pain, but they can also cause a large amount of harm.

These drugs can instantly relieve acute pain and distress. But the treatment of chronic diseases poses a grave problem. Thus, in relieving a diseased condition, other abnormal physiological and pathological problems may develop. The side effects from these drugs can range from mild side effects like fatigue and constipation, to strong side effects like suicidal thoughts, insomnia, coma, severe infection and so on.

“Any drug causing more side effects than benefits will not be called a medicine. It would rather be called a poison.”

Here, we are talking about antidepressants. Dr. Peter Gotzsche, co-founder of Cochrane Collaboration (the world’s foremost body in assessing medical evidence), is currently working to make the world aware of the fact that the side effects associated with the several pharmaceutical grade drugs are actually killing people all over the world. According to his research, 100,000 people in the United States alone die each year from the side effects of correctly-used prescription drugs. He published many papers reasoning the fact that antidepressants are making people suffer with its harmful effects to a large extent.

In context of antidepressants, recent example is a study published in the British Medical Journal by researchers at the Nordic Cochrane Centre in Copenhagen. It states that the pharmaceutical companies are not disclosing all information regarding the results of their drug trials.

Tamang Sharma, a PhD student at Cochrane and lead author of the study, said:

“We found that a lot of appendices were often only available upon request to the authorities, and the authorities had never requested them. I’m actually kind of scared about how bad the actual situation would be if we had the complete data.”

This is not the first time that the pharmaceutical companies are portraying only the half truth of their drug trials to get the antidepressants on to the shelves. There are many other examples where we can see that the drug companies are selling their drugs on the basis of a bunch of lies and half-told truths.

  2. Adverse reaction to an SSRI almost killed me 10 years ago. I still have permanent brain damage from it. Now I cannot tolerate drugs which cross the blood brain barrier which is terrifying because I cannot have any surgery if I need it. These psych drugs destroy lives and alter developing minds of children.

  3. Thank you for helping to expose the organized crime that is the pharmaceutical industry.  They prey on the weak, the vulnerable, and even our children for financial gain.  My son is now totally disabled – unable to work, go to school or drive a car, after a psychiatrist poisoned him with one injection of an anti psychotic drug during a brief hospital stay.

    • I am so sorry.  I think that’s what happened to a friends’ son.  He was having issues with sleep and anxiety.  After a hospitalization she’s been schizophrenic.  Maybe he always was, but he wasn’t so out there before the hospital.  And whatever they did to him gave him PTSD.  He freaks out when his mother even drives near the neighborhood where the hospital is located.

    • When you are as poor as i’m were do you get the $ to Sue? Not easy for the sick or poor in this parts or any were in the world

    • This is my son it happened to him also .I lost everything in my life  because i stand by him & i will until i die stand by my child

  4. This is great news. I myself have been permanently injured by pharmaceutical medicines. If I had only understood how bad it was going to be, I would not have taken them.

  6. Why is the life of a Drug Addict more important than the lives of millions of American’s who are suffering in pain? If you asked anyone suffering 24/7 with Chronic Pain what they need, if they are worried about become dependent on pain mediations that give them some kind of a quality of life, they will tell you that they need them for their lives. Drug addicts need treatment, Pain patients need relief from their pain. The two are separate.

    • I have developed a strong resentment against junkies because they make it ao hard for legitimate pain patients to get treatment.  But I have such a low quality of life without pain management that I would have a better life as a junkie than I would without pain management at all, so who cares if I evnd up with an addiction, even though I’ve never craved or abused my medication.

    • I am in both world..  I have fibromyalgi and have been in pain the last 8 years. All the heavy painkillers and so gave me a bleeding ulcurs.

I was giving cymbalta  (antidepressive ) to help with the pain.. the first few years I thought it was my fibromyalgi who where getting worse.. but i realised that it was the drug and I had to get of..

Bad advice from the doctors send me to withdraw hell.. its not about addiction like in heroine or so..  it has changed the way the neurons in the brain works.

I went to the ER three times before I found out what was going on. I thought I was going crazy. My hubby said one day.. could it be the stopping cymbalta.?

And indeed it was.. i found Facebook page called cymbalta hurts worse. They litterly saved my life. I reinstatet and are now tapering very very slowly. It was in September 2015 and I will be finish maybe in a year more. I was bedridden for 8 months and is still having big problems. I was giving it for pain.. and I am now having anxiety and panic attacks.. I cant live a normallife yet.. but I really hope I will some day.

If anyone wants to stop taking there meds.. just don’t take your doctor words for it.. about 50% people gets really nasty sideeffect of stopping the meds and needs to be taken out very slowly.

There is a real danger to stopping changing or skipping days of an antidepressive. Google your meds. Find someone  in the same boot.

In my case they couldn’t say it just was reappearing off sickness.

Be safe out there and look for natural treatment of your pain. My pain levels used to be a 10… now it’s about 0 to 3. Just by eating right.. juicing and cutting sugar and gluten out.

    • The bad part is those that can afford pain management are taking synthetic pain medication that has so many side effects when the best and safest pain mefications are real opiates

    • You are mad at the wrong people. It’s the DEA that is making it hard for people with chronic pain issues to be treated with opioid meds.

  7. Pain medicine does not fix what is causing the pain, it is only a way to treat the pain. Sadly medicine/science has yet to find a way to fix the underlying cause, especially when it comes to the neurological system. Every medication has side effects. But if it helps a person live, then let them live.

    • Sometimes the underlying cause can not be fixed like me nerve damage. But synthetic pain medication is 100 time more dangerous than real opiates.

  8. Let’s break the doctor’s knees with a baseball bat. Then, let’s allow him only stretching and exercise as treatment for his excruciating pain. No Synvisc, no steroids, no opiates, no Tylenol. All are dangerous, and used by doctors just a result of drug company propaganda.

  9. I am new to this group, my name is Lisa! I was on statin medication for over 25 years, cholesterol kept going up! I kept telling my Dr. I could barely walk. His response was your going to die of a Stroke or a heart attack if I didn’t up the strength of the statin. It was time for a new Dr. I was in the ER after a fall, and a nurse suggested I go see this certain MD. From there, he said you are in perfect shape, no high blood pressure, wasn’t over weight? He sent me to a Lipid Clinic that does Genetic research. Yes, I have this from my father, my cholesterol was at 500. I changed my diet and started repatha injections every other week. The side effects are horrible, but brought it down to 186!! Never, ever when I stopped statins has my leg pain gone away. So severe deep in the bone? Has the statin permanetly harmed my legs?? Thank You

  10. Big Pharma and the APA have manipulated, fixed, psychiatric drug Clinical Trials since Prozac to make their drugs look “safe and effective.” The Data from the trials conflicts with the abstracts and articles in write ups for Medical Journals. They hide suicides of subjects in trials, for instance. And during trials for Xanax, for example, the Pharma-funded researchers did 4 weeks studies, then 8 week studies – but only published information in journals about the first 4 weeks of Xanax trials to prove “safety and efficacy,” leaving out, unmentioned, the results at eight weeks, The eighth week data revealed serious patient addiction, some suicides, and other horrible side effects trying to withdraw, and some patients unable to stop taking the Xanax. Read about this and more re: trials “biased by design” in multiple-award winning Medical/Science Journalist Robert Whitaker’s books “Anatomy of An Epidemic” (2010,2015) and his latest book (the icing on the cake) “Psychiatry Under the Influence.”(Oct.2015). He blows the lid off corrupt, unethical Psychiatry! Whitaker was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for work done in the late 1990’s. His two books are a must! You can listen to him on YouTube…the “Copenhagen Conference” for example…introducing “Anatomy of…” to Danish Health Professionals.

  11. Americans are so blinded at this point. Seeing their Dr’s & prescriptions as saviors. Messiah’s. Not a one cares any longer of the fast talking risks’ at the end of a commercial for these man-made chemicals for profits. It’s a religion now.
