A jury in Britain found former glam rock singer Gary Glitter guilty of a string of sex abuse offenses against three young girls in the 1970s and ’80s.
The 70-year-old, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was found guilty of one count of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault, and one count of sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13.
He was arrested in October 2012, the first in a series of arrests under Operation Yewtree, the national investigation police launched in the wake of a child abuse scandal surrounding late BBC entertainer Jimmy Savile.

Gary Glitter was today convicted of sexually abusing a string of underage girls, including one who was just eight when he tried to rape her at his luxury mansion.
The paedophile pop star, who was previously convicted of possessing a huge haul of child porn, had denied attempted rape and indecent assault.
But he was convicted by a jury at Southwark Crown Court, and could now die in jail when he is sentenced for his crimes.
Glitter, 70, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was convicted of one count of attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and one count of sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 13.
He was cleared of of two counts of indecent assault and one count of administering a drug or other thing in order to facilitate sexual intercourse.
Glitter raised his eyebrows and looked shocked in the dock as the verdicts were read. He blew kisses to a public gallery full of reporters as he was led down to the cells.
The 5ft 6in rock star made a hand gesture indicating that he thought the jury was crazy after they delivered their verdict.
During the course of his trial jurors heard that he had crawled into bed with an eight-year-old while she was staying at his luxury home in the countryside and tried to have sex with her.
Another victim, aged 12 at the time, was attacked by Glitter after watching him perform in Leicester. He invited her back to his hotel room and had sex with her after plying her with champagne.
The third victim, a 13-year-old, visited the star’s dressing room following a gig, and was told to sit on his knee while he groped her.
Glitter accused the three women, who all gave evidence anonymously, of fabricating their stories, and wept as he told the court how the exposure of his paedophilia tore his family apart.
As well as his child porn conviction, Glitter was jailed in 2006 for abusing two underage girls in Vietnam, where he briefly lived after being exposed as a paedophile.
Despite his long list of crimes, Glitter has never shown any remorse and has always denied having any sexual interest in children.
Gadd will be sentenced on February 27th.
