According to NOLA.com (link), “Forecastors at The National Weather Service are watching two disturbances in the north Atlantic they say have a low chance of developing into tropical depressions in the next five days. According to the 7 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 19) tropical weather update, the first system is about 1,000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. Senior hurricane specialist Michael Brennan said the weak area of low pressure is producing disorganized shower and thunderstorm activity.
“Some slow development of this system is possible later this week as it approaches the Lesser Antilles and moves into the Caribbean Sea,” he wrote. It has a low chance of developing into a tropical system in the next 48 hours (10 percent chance) and in the next five days (20 percent chance). The second system – a tropical wave – is midway between the west coast of Africa and the Lesser Antilles, Brennan wrote. It’s producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
“Some slow development of this system is possible over the next several days while it moves toward the west-northwest at about 10 mph,” Brennan wrote. This system also has a low chance of developing into a tropical system in the next 48 hours (10 percent chance) and in the next five days (20 percent chance).
