Exploding Toothpaste & New Boogeymen: Who Is The Khorasan Terrorist Group?

Fact checked

Are You Exhausted Yet?

Ebola, ISIS/IS/ISIL, Ferguson, Voting Fraud, Beheadings, Mysterious respiratory viruses, planes disappearing and crashing, Russia, Gaza, Israel, North Korea, China, radiation, border crisis’, Ukraine, looming threats of WW3, and now a “more” dangerous terrorist cell that you’ve never heard of before called the Khorasan group… can you keep up with everything being thrown at you?  It’s exhausting, isn’t it?   In the past 6-8 weeks we have experienced an onslaught of  fear mongering and invisible monsters and boogeymen unparalleled in history.  It’s exhausting… and that’s the point.  This information overload is supposed to be tiring so you just roll over and become numb.

According to Noam Chomsky‘s – “10 strategies of manipulation” by the media, an oft-used tactic in mass manipulation is to exhaust you mentally and emotionally.  “Making use of the emotional aspect is a classic technique for causing a short circuit on rational analysis , and finally to the critical sense of the individual.  Furthermore, the use of emotional register to open the door to the unconscious for implantation or grafting ideas , desires, fears and anxieties , compulsions, or induce behaviors …”

Daily, we are waking up with headlines and a push of fear that is reminiscent of the just-post 9/11 media and political climate.  It’s tiring, constant, and for the most part, unbearable.  Enter the Khorasan “terrorist group/sleeper cell” out of seemingly nowhere.  In a move that makes the sudden and extremely fast introduction of ISIS to the world look like we were witnessing a sloth walk 1,000 miles, the swift and questionable introduction of Khorasan is offensive to our intelligence.

What Happened To ISIS?

“The primary element of social control is the strategy of distraction which is to divert public attention from important issues and changes determined by the political and economic elites, by the technique of flood or flooding continuous distractions and insignificant information. distraction strategy is also essential to prevent the public interest in the essential knowledge in the area of the science, economics, psychology, neurobiology and cybernetics. “Maintaining public attention diverted away from the real social problems, captivated by matters of no real importance. Keep the public busy, busy, busy, no time to think, back to farm and other animals (quote from text Silent Weapons for Quiet War ).”

The above is another passage from Noam Chomsky’s – “10 strategies of manipulation” by the media“, and it is chillingly accurate.  Just weeks ago, the US and other world governments announced that they would be going into the middle east to rid the world of ISIS, the newest and most evil terrorists in the world.  Then, like a bad dream, we as a public were awkwardly introduced to an even larger and more powerful threat – the Khorasan terror group.

According to an article by the controlled and almost laughably public manipulation machine that is The New York Times, entitled “In Airstrikes, U.S. Targets Militant Cell Said to Plot an Attack Against the West “, they say:  “American forces took advantage of the airstrikes against the Islamic State extremist group in Syria to try to simultaneously wipe out the leadership of an unrelated cell of veterans of Al Qaeda that the White House said Tuesday was plotting an ‘imminent’ attack against the United States or Europe.”  Excuse me?  What?  Who?  The article went on to say, “Several officials said Khorasan had an advanced plan for an attack involving a bomb that could pass undetected through airport security systems, perhaps by lacing nonmetallic objects like toothpaste tubes and clothes with explosive material, although officials offered no details in public and did not provide specifics on how soon an attack might be carried out.”

The Khorasan Group and Their Exploding Toothpaste

It sounds like a lineup for a drug-fueled music festival, doest it?  Now we have to be afraid of not only shoes that blow up, but exploding clothes and toothpaste?  The headlines started just a few days ago, and they convey a mixture of authority and fear.  So many news outlets are reporting on the eradication/introduction of the Khorasan group to the world as if it was the plan all along.  Yahoo!News yesterday ran the article, “U.S. officials: Terrorist group was nearing attack“.

In the article, the author states:  “The U.S. decision to strike the Khorasan Group to stop a possible terror attack represents a significant expansion of the largely secret war against core al-Qaida, a group President Barack Obama has proclaimed was ‘a shadow of its former self.’ ”  A secret war?  That should get many people’s fear thermometers rising.  The article goes on to say:  “Administration officials said Tuesday they have been watching the Khorasan Group, an al-Qaida cell in Syria, for years. But Obama had resisted taking military action in Syria to avoid inadvertently helping President Bashar Assad, a leader the U.S. would like to see gone. That changed, officials said, because intelligence showed that the Khorasan Group was in the final stages of plotting attacks against the U.S. and Europe, most likely an attempt to blow up an airplane in flight.”

So, the US government spends months bombing and fighting ISIS, who respond by allegedly beheading American and UK hostages, only to turn around and say, “Whoops!  Did we say ISIS?  No, well them too, but we really wanted to finish our secret war against these other bad guys who were much, much closer to killing you than ISIS”?

NBC News ran an article this week entitled, “ISIS Isn’t Alone: Khorasan Group May Pose Bigger Threat to U.S.“, where they say:  “Little is known about those militants — dubbed the “Khorasan group.” But in the week since their name hit the international stage, they’ve been billed as potentially an even bigger threat to the U.S. than ISIS. Here’s a look at what we know about the group whose existence was not publicly acknowledged until last week.”

What Is The Khorasan Terrorist Group?

In one of the extremely few news sources that isn’t blindly going along with what the government says like a pack of soulless zombies, (in this article, at least), Business Insider published an article entitled, “Meet The Khorasan, The Terrorist Group That’s Suddenly A Bigger Threat Than ISIS“.  The author writes, “Up until late last week, no US official had ever publicly mentioned the terrorist group known as the Khorasan. On Monday night, the US carried out unilateral airstrikes against the previously unknown group in northwest Syria.

And on Tuesday, US officials were describing the group as an imminent threat on par with or worse than the group calling itself the Islamic State (also known as ISIS or ISIL), which has been the focus of US airstrikes for more than six weeks.

The key difference between ISIS and Khorasan: US intelligence believes Khorasan poses a threat to the US and its homeland, while it believes ISIS does not currently have the capability to carry out a large-scale attack on the US homeland.”

Officially, this “new group” “Was in the final stages of plans to execute major attacks against Western targets and potentially the U.S. homeland,”  according to Lt. Gen. William Mayville, the director of operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  But is it really even a new group?  Of course not.  It seems that many sources are saying the same thing – this is just Al Qaeda – 2.0.

The Business Insider article states, “BuzzFeed’s Rosie Gray reports that Khorasan appears to have been connected to Ibrahim al-Asiri, the master bomb maker in Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP). The group is believed to be led by Muhsin al-Fadhli, a senior Al Qaeda operative and a close confidant of Osama bin Laden.

Fadhli had previously headed Al Qaeda’s operations in Iran. However, he is believed to have been relocated to Syria in mid-2013 when he joined up with Jabhat al-Nusra, the official Al Qaeda franchise in Syria.

 Who Are They?

According to The New York Daily News, “While the group lacks international name recognition, it’s still a serious terrorist threat: Khorasan was in the final stages of planning an “imminent attack” on the U.S. and its Western allies, United States Central Command said.

The tiny 50-member terror squad is made up of “seasoned Al Qaeda veterans” who are especially astute in bomb-making.”

CNN went on to say:  “The plots were believed to be in an advanced stage, the second U.S. official said. There were indications that the militants had obtained materials and were working on new improvised explosive devices that would be hard to detect, including common hand-held electronic devices and airplane carry-on items such as toiletries.

The intelligence community discovered Khorasan plots against the United States within the past week, an intelligence source with knowledge of the matter told CNN. The intelligence source did not give an intended target but said the plots potentially involved a bomb made of a nonmetallic device like a toothpaste container or clothes dipped in explosive material.”

Officially, the story of this group, (who the media is admitting has “appeared” out of nowhere), is changing and growing day by day.  The official line is extremely clear, though – The Khorasan Group is more dangerous than ISIS and is capable of attacking the US.  The real truth lies beneath the government bravado and the robotic journalists and media companies that insist on reporting what they are told, rather than investigate.  Sadly, as with so many other times in our history, it appears that it may be too late before we know the truth.

With such an overload, it is hard for the average person to keep up and figure out where the truth lies, and even scarier – which of these proverbial strands of spaghetti are going to hit the wall and stick?  Is the Khorasan group just another boogeyman, with exploding toothpaste and a threat that we will never see come to fruition?  Or is there something more to the newest threat?
