Witnesses are saying that police and military forces can be seen “all over” the place, but there has been no official explanation or reasons given for the evacuation.
Armed police and soldiers are searching tourists as Paris landmark is put on lockdown, although people are reported to be acting calmly, with “no state of panic” …..and apparently responding well to the show of force.
Some people at the scene have said that a “suspicious” package had caused the evacuation. However, others said that the site had not been evacuated, but access to it limited.
According to one report, police are allowing people into the ground floor restaurant.
