Mrs Currie, who lives a stone’s throw from the Prime Minister’s constituency, said: “I am here to protest against all of the cuts – I think they are a big mistake.”

She added: “I would like the county council to change its mind about making such huge cuts.

“This is going to hurt everybody, particularly people who do not have enough in the first place.”

Last week, Mrs Currie spoke out against the closures, which she described as “absolutely essential.”

She told the Oxford Mail: “All the research shows they make life for children very much better. It is a false economy to cut them and absolutely wrong.”
