Cameron introduced the e-petition initiative when he became prime minister in 201o with the aim of boosting transparency and democratic participation.
If petitions on the parliamentary website garner 100,000 signatures, MPs are then obliged to hold a debate on the subjects raised.
The date for this debate, however is yet to be confirmed.
A similar petition calling for a debate on a vote of no confidence in Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt was rejected by MPs earlier this year, despite it attracting more than 220,000 signatures
