California To Withhold Federal Tax From Trump ‘Until Impeachment Happens’

Fact checked

The state government is "bracing for an all out war with the Trump administration" and a proposal for California to secede from the Union has been submitted to the Secretary of State’s Office

Californian state officials are planning to suspend tax payments to Washington to protest Trump's policies "until impeachment happens".

Californian state officials are studying ways to withhold the state’s payment of federal tax dollars to Washington in order to protest against President Trump’s policies “until impeachment happens“.

State officials are putting everything on the table. Today a source in the state government told me that that involves finding ways to stop the flow of funds from California to Washington D.C.,” reported San Francisco’s KPIX 5.

California could very well become an organized non-payer,” said Willie Brown, Jr, a former speaker of the state Assembly in an interview recorded for KPIX 5’s Sunday morning news.

They could recommend non-compliance with the federal tax code.

And if they do so they will force the confrontation, because we give Washington more money than Washington gives us.”

“The state is getting ready for a showdown.

This is far from the first time elite liberals from the Golden State have issued threats to the rest of the country.

A group of prominent Californian celebrities threatened Trump with a “total Hollywood strike” until he resigned from office.

That didn’t work out well for them. Will this latest display of petulance work out any better?

But the Californian response to Trump’s election doesn’t end with strikes and threats of withholding tax payments. On Thursday a proposal for California to secede from the United States and become its own nation was submitted to the Secretary of State’s Office.

The proposed “Calexit” initiative – pushed by Hollywood celebrities – is asking voters to repeal part of the state constitution that declares California a part of the U.S.

The proposal has already gained most of the 600,000 signatures required to schedule a state vote in 2019 that will ask voters, “Should California become a free, sovereign and independent country?”

California is the most diverse place in the world and we are saying we want to have more immigration, more minorities, more international connection, and essentially reject the values espoused by the Confederacy,” said Marcus Ruiz Evans, spokesman for the Yes California Independence Campaign.

In our view, the United States of America represents so many things that conflict with Californian values, and our continued statehood means California will continue subsidizing the other states to our own detriment, and to the detriment of our children,” the Yes campaign’s website says.

  1. Lol, have fun with that. Maybe you morons should leave so we don’t have to worry about your 55 electoral votes messing up OUR COUNTRY with idiotic libtard “presidents” like Obummer again. GO AHEAD, MAKE MY DAY!

  2. See ya later. California is in debt and taxes just went up. Let’s see how socialism with an illegal immigrant twist works out when all federal money to the state stops. See if the Hollywood liberals will foot the bill. Trump will put a huge federal tax on the filth that they call movies, and crush them with a death spiral. If they do succeed, the actual working citizens who want to remain will leave and then moon at Jerry Brown will depend on those illegals to pay their fair share. Ohhh did I just say that? Hahahahahaha

  3. Cali will be invaded by China so fast it’ll make their head swim. And who’s gonna defend her? The little snowflakes?
    BWAHAHAHAHAHA.

  4. Say buh bye to those well armed military bases, and hello to Russian armadas headed for Long Beach, and Chinese subs in SF Bay.

  5. So we want to leave. And you want us to leave? Sounds like we’ve finally found something everyone can agree on. 🙂

    • You can leave but you need to leave our country where it is when you go. To many Americans in California that want that land for you to try and take it with you when you leave.

      • It’ll be the state that leaves, not the individuals. (Why would leave when our property values keep going up and we have a great economy?) If you can’t handle that then I guess you are stuck with us until you melt all the glaciers and both icecaps under your current plan.

        • I guess we will be stuck with you. Glaciers melt? LOL. More ice on the caps than ever. I’ll bet you think the earth is flat too…maybe man didn’t really walk on the moon, or Bush caused the twin towers to collapse. Silly Girl, Trix are for kids. I think it’s funny how most republicans didn’t vote for Trump at the primaries-cross over dems did that to try and screw with us. We voted for Trump in November only because anything was better than Hillary. You got your man… now you have to live with him.

          • You know me so well. Literally, everything you said was inaccurate. From whatever you tried to imply about ice caps and glaciers (https://nsidc.org/cryosphere/glaciers/questions/climate.html) to spouting a bunch of nonsense you claim I believe. And, to top it off, you called me a “silly girl” just to be patronizing. It just makes you look like an ass.

I know lots of Democrats (which is what happens when you are from California and/or well-educated) not a single one would vote for Trump to mess with Republicans. We though most of your candidates were crappy. No need to pick the one who shouting racist/sexist/xenophobic stuff. No one wanted to keep listening to that. Republicans (who claim to be the party of personal responsibility) own this mess until they put pressure on their representatives to do something about him.

And BTW, it may be under the jurisdiction of the US, but it’s *also* under the jurisdiction of California. And the individual’s in “Western” California’s own the land they live on and their is zero provision in the Constitution for taking away the land of people you disagree with. So, really, if anyone’s ought to leave the country it should be the people who have a problem with the Constitution.

          • Californian’s try and destroy America by voting against the people and it’s freedom over and over again and then try and bailout when it says, “darn, we almost destroyed ourselves, we better change course before it’s too late.” This country had states rights and then it didn’t. You were alright with my state being subservient to the federal government in all things but when the power comes to those that desire freedom then it’s , “Oh chicken Little, the sky is falling.” You’re state and it’s people are hypocritical and racist and won’t be allowed to destroy it and then leave. You’ll thank me one day when part of your country slides into the ocean and we’re here to help you. We won’t be there for you when you go bancrupt and you have to pay your own way out of it. Many of your rich people are already moving to my state by the way. When the rest of them do the house of cards you’ve built will come down.

          • Now, you are making no sense. Re-read your post and consider re-writing it.

“Californian’s try and destroy America by voting against the people and it’s freedom over and over again and then try and bailout when it says, ‘darn, we almost destroyed ourselves, we better change course before it’s too late.’ ”

What events is this supposed to refer to? (Also, there are an insane number of grammar mistakes in your post making it hard to understand what you are saying.)

“This country had states rights and then it didn’t.” Again, what are you referring to?

“You were alright with my state being subservient to the federal government in all things but when the power comes to those that desire freedom then it’s , ‘Oh chicken Little, the sky is falling.’ ” Still no idea what you are referring to.

“You’re state and it’s people are hypocritical and racist and won’t be allowed to destroy it and then leave.” Examples? (Also, grammar, seriously.)

“You’ll thank me one day when part of your country slides into the ocean and we’re here to help you. We won’t be there for you when you go bancrupt and you have to pay your own way out of it.” That managed to be intelligible. The way things are going though, it’s most likely that 45’s global warming denialism will just melt the icecaps and flood us, rather than the state actually sliding. And no danger of bankruptcy now absent some ridiculous policy by 45.

“Many of your rich people are already moving to my state by the way. When the rest of them do the house of cards you’ve built will come down.” What state are you in?

I’m happy to debate you on this issue, but your responses need to be intelligible in order for us to have a debate.

        • Your property values continue to go up because of man made laws. You vote to keep poor people out because you’re xenophobic then preach to the world how you’re open-minded. The U.S. won’t be baling California out of its fiscal mess and one day soon will be paying the piper when no more loans are forthcoming. Read Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” and you’ll see how I envision California’s future.

  6. The land of California is under the jurisdiction of the U.S. If you don’t like it then you’re free to move to another country and ask for asylum. Russia is huge and shares the same politics as many in the western part of California do and would be happy to welcome you into their work force. We have to defend the citizens of the U.S. that don’t want to move to Russia, China, or N. Korea though through any means necessary.

      • Western Calif? Hwy 5 is a great dividing point. Vast majority of socialists/democrats live west of I-5 and south of I-40. However, there are quite a few normal voters living amongst these voters and they shouldn’t be forced out of the U.S. because of some fringe groups bent on destroying their freedoms.

        • If the majority of the largest state votes to leave, I can’t see how that would be a “fringe group.”

What freedoms does your imaginary fringe group want to destroy?

          • Look at a map of how counties voted in California and you’ll see that the communists voting in lockstep were in the major metropolitan areas of LA and San Diego up to San Francisco and over to Sacramento; your basic ghetto/uneducated/want freebies area. The rest of California voted pro-freedom, anti-death, states rights, and common sense defense of their persons. I would never have a problem with you people dividing your state into two states so part of it can have freedom and you can have the masses who only want to take and yell at you when you’re not fast enough giving – ie. 21st century slavemasters.

          • This comment is silly on multiple levels and betrays your misunderstanding of politics and of California.

First, you have somehow ascribed to the Californians who would leave the union, the idea that they are anti-state rights. The Californians choosing state over country are somehow anti states rights?

Second, in what way are San Francisco, LA, San Diego and Sacramento pro-death? Like what is that even supposed to mean?

Third, by “the rest of California” that “voted pro-freedom, anti-death, states rights, [blah blah blah],” you mean the 30%(!) that voted for Trump. These magical counties that voted for Trump – I did a quick calculation – represent less than 10% of the population in California. Don’t act like he represents some swell of Californians being stifled by the bare majority. He was trounced.

Third, California is the 6th largest economy in the world. You think all that comes from agriculture? You think all the tax money comes from agriculture? No, it comes from tech, biotech, tourism, entertainment (and maybe a little agriculture). I’m not aware of any major tech companies, biotech companies and entertainment located in the middle of Nowheresville, California. (Maybe porn?) These industries are concentrated in the areas you randomly decided were “communist” despite being massively profitable capitalist enterprises. And I’m definitely not aware any significant tourism in these rural counties. Have you been Amador, Modoc, Tuolome, Calaveras or Glenn counties? Name a city in one of those counties. These counties are not where the tax revenues that fund the state (and the federal government) comes from. It’s the huge counties, with big business and lots of workers so you need to learn something about the state before you go off on these nonsense rants about “slavemasters.”

      • Western california is the larger part of California who wants freedom and is against those of you who want to create a communist utopia that has never worked since the beginning of time because it’s run by man and man is a corrupt being.

        • “Communist utopia” – LOL, you’re nutty. I guess that’s what you need to tell yourself to stay hateful and preserve your unearned sense of superiority. “Larger part of California” – see post below to explain why you are wrong.

  7. “total Hollywood strike?” …

… does that mean Hollywood is going to end sexual harassment to actresses? …
