Lauren Bacall, the film and stage actress and model who was known for her distinctive husky voice and sultry looks, died Tuesday at the age of 89, according to multiple reports.
According to a report just published by USA Today, The Humphrey Bogart estate has confirmed her death. They released a statement, saying “With deep sorrow for the magnitude of our loss, yet with great gratitude for her amazing life, we confirm the passing of Lauren Bacall”
Bogart and Bacall starred in many movies together, also having two children. She lived with him until his death from throat cancer in 1957. Bacall first emerged as a leading lady in the Humphrey Bogart film To Have and Have Not (1944) and continued on in the film noir genre, with appearances in Bogart movies The Big Sleep (1946), Dark Passage (1947), and Key Largo (1948), as well as comedic roles in How to Marry a Millionaire (1953) with Marilyn Monroe and Designing Woman (1957) with Gregory Peck. More recently, she appeared in an episode of “Family Guy”, as a friend of Peter’s mother.

Word of her death came from multiple media reports. Both Variety magazine and the celebrity news website TMZ said Bacall had passed away at her home from a stroke.
