Al Gore claimed “Earth is getting colder because it’s getting warmer,” in response to critics who say the recent cold weather debunks man-made global warming theory.
As much of the U.S. battles record-low temperatures, Mr Gore took to Twitter to double down on his peculiar brand of circular reasoning and shoddy science.
“It’s bitter cold in parts of the US, but climate scientist Dr. Michael Mann explains that’s exactly what we should expect from the climate crisis,” the former Vice President said.

“Climate crisis,” of course, is a term that’s being used as a substitute for “global warming,” which fell out of favor as a talking point with people more worried about freezing to death. Make no mistake, global warming is still what Gore is peddling, no matter the label.
For instance, the former vice president famously predicted that global warming would cause the arctic ice cap to melt… with a due-date of several years ago. It didn’t happen.
“Updated data from NASA satellite instruments reveal the Earth’s polar ice caps have not receded at all since the satellite instruments began measuring the ice caps in 1979,” Forbes Magazine reported in 2015.
“Ice growth during November 2017 averaged 30,900 square miles per day,” the National Snow and Ice Data Center stated earlier this month.
It would be one thing if global warming zealots like Al Gore admitted that they came to the wrong conclusions, and updated their models and predictions to match reality — you know, like actual scientists do.
Instead, leftists are engaging in the exact same broken logic they claim to despise. The crowd constantly lectures people that “weather is not climate,” and a short-term spell is not the same as a long-term trend.
That’s what they did after Donald Trump posted a tongue-in-cheek take down of global warming. The president humorously pointed out that the East Coast was facing near-record low temperatures over New Year’s Day, while liberals smugly scolded him that weather isn’t climate.
Yet — magically — when Al Gore needs it to make his case, it suddenly is. Gore simply flipped the same argument, and pointed at the recent cold snap as “evidence” of earth-threatening climate change.
Media outlets frequently do the same thing: Use heat waves in the summer to whip up doom-and-gloom articles about global warming, while suddenly forgetting about the “connection” when icy winter weather shows up.
Here’s a thought: Maybe we don’t actually know enough about millennia-long climate patterns to predict the future. Maybe we should keep digging and asking questions, and not treat people who have healthy skepticismas some sort of Inquisition-era heretics to be burned at the stake.
That would never sell documentaries, though. Inconvenient truth, indeed.

Before global warming they used to go around in circles much moreso than the loopey way they move now. So now you get loops of cold air that reach all the way to Florida as shown for Jan 4 2017. Correspondingly warm air is getting to the poles, causing thinning of the ice, even if cover varies greatly. If you look at old photos of glaziers you know they have been melting. You can try to argue humans have nothing to do with it, question the CO2 model, but if you are trying to say it is not getting hotter then I think you are a big oil troll paid for your opinion. You are confusing cause and reaction. Melting ice leads to weight redistribution, more at the pole, which leads to axis adjustments. The earth is like a spinning top with fluids and the fluids are moving from the poles to the equator … I am not saying God has nothing to do with it, I am saying your science is shit.

Yeah my language can be coarse, sorry about that. I am talking about Greenland and Antarctica where the ice is sitting on land, kilometers deep. Ozone recovering is great and shows that nature is in balance, we can perturb it but if we stop perturbing it re-balances.

Co2 is basic grade 7 education and more co2 is actually a good thing that will cause faster plant growth. This will clean the air and create more oxygen providing the governments stop deforestation.

Jezuz jimmy I fully agree about over polulation, deforestation, over fishing,pollution are killing this planet and while I do believe CO2 has somewhat to do with global warming I also believe it is likely that other factors, in particular water vapor, are much larger and harder to model. The correlation between CO2 and global temperatures over time are real but I think most of the causation is more warming -> more CO2 is released and not the other way around.You mentioning the rich and poor is very interesting. I think a lot of media spin can be explained that way – for example the way the race divide is kept simmering – by dividing the races the real divide – rich and poor – is hidden and the poor cannot unite to question the inequalities.

Well, local weather modification is real and mainly used to protect crops from hail and trying to seed clouds for rain. However the vast majority of chem-trail advocates are either conspiracy-addicts or trolls who join a group – say ‘pro-choicers (they call them anti-vaccers), agree with all they say but then become very vocal about Chemtrails also, thereby undermining the pro-choice movement. The real ‘Chemtrail’ is glysophate – here the rich can buy organic food but the poor cannot afford that .. the poor get poisoned, the rich stay healthy. The same with child-care, the rich can afford nannies, the poor need accept vaccination to get family payments and childcare so they can work to afford living .. but chemtrails? That makes no sense and is driven by trolls making other groups look bad.

Its a scam for sure….at least over here in Belgium it is. All good will efforts to do something usefull are replaced by just a higher taxation on polluting products. You can buy or waste whatever volume you want (gas,fuel,electricity, water and so on) as long as you pay a higher price for it……the extra money it brings is not used to do something that could be helpfull for nature or climate.
