16th Woman Accuses Cosby of Rape

Fact checked

From NBC West Palm Beach (source):  Therese Serignese said she was 19-years-old when she met Bill Cosby in Las Vegas. That was in 1976.
Cosby was putting on a show at the Hilton.

“He asked me, ‘would you like to come see my show?’ Of course I would.” said Serignese.

She said she ended up at an after party.

Therese said hours later it was just her and Cosby and that’s when she says he offered her some pills.

She said, “I took them, didn’t know what they were didn’t even ask. I just was intimidated I guess and I took them. Then my next memory is feeling drugged and him having sex with me.”

Therese said she didn’t know how she got home but remembers telling her mother the next day.

“She just looked at me and said ‘maybe he’ll take care of you,’ ” Sherignese said.

Therese said Cosby let her stay at his penthouse suite for several weeks.

She said he later asked her to leave when she told him she might be pregnant.

It was a false alarm.

Therese said she saw Cosby on several occasions throughout the years, but got married and moved on.

She said it wasn’t until she moved to Florida and got into a financial bind that she reached out to Cosby again.

Therese said Cosby promised her years ago to give her 500 dollars if she went to school and made all As.

She eventually went to nursing school and did well. She said she wanted Cosby to make good on his promise and he did.

“That’s when I got the Western Union. The secretary called me up the next day and she said go to Western Union. You got something from Bill Cosby,” she said.

Therese said Cosby sent her $10,000.

She said Cosby’s agency sent another check for $5,000.

That was in the mid 90s.

Therese never heard from or reached out to Cosby again.

She never went public with the first allegations of rape that first night they met until 2005.

That’s when another woman came forward with what Therese says was a similar story.

“How dare he. Still doing this 30 years later.”

Therese became a witness, Jane Doe ten, but the case was settled out of court and died down.

And now as the allegations come forward again, Therese said it’s time to share her story.

She said, “I’m gonna say to Bill Cosby. You do owe me an explanation for why you did this to me. I want an apology. I want you to apologize for hurting me. I want you to apologize for taking advantage of me.”

Therese said she doesn’t care if others believe her story, she’s doing it because she believes there are other victims out there.

WPTV has put in a call seeking comment on the allegation.

Over the weekend, Cosby was asked about other “serious allegations raised about you” by NPR’s Scott Simon.

“Do you have any response to those charges?” Simon asked.

In response, Cosby shook his head in silence.

On Sunday, Cosby attorney John P. Schmitt released a written statement. “Over the last several weeks, decade-old, discredited allegations against Mr. Cosby have resurfaced,” Schmitt said. “The fact that they are being repeated does not make them true. Mr. Cosby does not intend to dignify these allegations with any comment.”
